Red brindle driveway and side access
This run wraps around the side of the house, past a door and along a shrub border before reaching the rear gate. Nothing about it is a straight rectangle, which makes the cutting and the levels the whole job rather than the laying.

How do you pave a curve in herringbone?
The herringbone field is laid straight and the curve is formed entirely in the cuts along the edge. Each block is marked off the actual line, cut on a saw and bedded so the arc looks continuous rather than faceted.
What is done at a doorway?
Levels are dropped so the finished paving sits at least 150mm below the damp proof course, with a fall running away from the threshold. A shallow channel or gap can be added where a step makes that clearance tight.

Why choose red brindle?
Brindle is a blend rather than a flat colour, so it hides the marking that a single-tone block shows and sits comfortably against red or buff brick. It is also one of the most widely stocked blocks, which makes future repairs easier.
