Instant quote calculator
Set the area, the finish and the awkward bits, and the calculator builds an itemised estimate with VAT and the likely number of days on site. It is indicative, not a quotation — but it is built from the same rates we price real jobs from, so it will not be a fantasy figure.
AC20 binder course and AC6 surface course over compacted Type 1.
Indicative estimate
- Tarmac driveway — 50 m²
- £3,895
- Break out tarmac
- £1,600
- VAT at 20%
- £1,099
Roughly 2 days on site.
Indicative estimate only, produced from published UK rate bands and our own recent work. It is not a quotation. Ground conditions, access, spoil volume and drainage decide the real number — we confirm it in writing after a free site survey.

How does the instant quote calculator work?
Pick the surface, set the area with the slider, then tell it what is there now, how the surface will be used, the layout, access and any extras. It multiplies a base rate per square metre by those factors, adds break-out, edging and extras, then applies 20% VAT.
- Base rate per m² depends on whether you want labour only, labour plus a new sub-base, or full supply and lay
- Use surcharge for car parking or heavy vehicle loading over foot traffic
- Pattern multiplier for herringbone, circles and heavy cutting
- Surcharge under 30m², volume discount from 50m² and again from 100m²
- Flat fee for difficult access, multiplier for urgent work
- Break-out and disposal of the existing surface, priced per m² by material
How accurate is the estimate?
Close enough to budget with, not close enough to sign. It uses our real rate bands, so a straightforward job usually lands within about 15% of the quoted price. Ground conditions, spoil volume, drainage and access are the four things that move it, and none of those can be judged from a slider.
Can I price more than one job at once?
Yes. Each calculator has an add-to-quote button, and the summary panel stacks them into one running total. Price a block-paved driveway and a porcelain patio together, remove anything you change your mind about, then send the whole basket as a single enquiry.
Does the estimate include VAT?
Yes. VAT is shown as its own line at the standard 20% rate and included in the total, so the figure you see is the figure you would pay. Every basket total is VAT-inclusive too.
What happens after I send it?
The breakdown arrives with your enquiry, so we already know roughly what you want before we call. We arrange a free site survey, check depths, drainage and access, and send a written itemised quote you can compare line by line against anyone else's.
Frequently asked
Is the calculator a binding quotation?
No. It is an indicative estimate from published rate bands. A binding price only follows a site survey and comes to you in writing, itemised.
Why is a small driveway more per square metre?
Setting up, plant delivery and muck-away cost roughly the same whether the area is 20m² or 60m². Below 30m² the calculator adds 15% to reflect that; above 50m² and 100m² it discounts instead.
Does it include a dropped kerb?
Only our works, as an optional extra. The council highways permit and application fee — typically £500–£1,500 — are separate and paid to the local authority.
